CCP Outreach holds virtual apprenticeship for regional artists and cultural workers

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) thru its Cultural Exchange Department (CED) holds the third Apprenticeship Program for its Kaisa sa Sining (KSS) Regional Art Centers (RACs) nationwide but this time virtually.

Launched in 2018 and continued to 2019, the program has provided mentorship for forty (40) apprentices from 20 provinces all over the country.

The 2018-2019 modules included production management, production design and technical services, cultural exchange, venue operations, library and archives, museum and gallery management, film-broadcast and media arts, arts education and theater company management.

Specifically designed for arts and culture practitioners from the CCP KSS regional art centers in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the program aims to provide support to the CCP KSS regional art centers in advancing the culture, arts, and theater management in the regions and enhance their competence level and skills.

For 2020, the program takes a new form as a result of the ongoing pandemic and quarantine.  The mentorship will be done virtually, utilizing various technology and new media platforms.

CCP CED Department Manager, Chinggay Bernardo emphasizes: “Sharing and learning among practitioners in the field of arts and culture must continue despite the difficulties brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.  Time and again, the arts have been proven to be a powerful gift that any person, community and nation can actually benefit and make use for healing, survival, transformation, development and peace.  These are the very reasons why we pursue with our regional community cultural outreach programs”.

The program modules for 2020 include arts management, production management, tour management, production design, venue operations and technical theater.  Batch 2020 are 28 practitioners from 13 provinces and 14 RACs who will undertake the apprenticeship from August 4-28.
