A change in scenery may be just what you need to find your spiritual center

While Manila, Cebu, and Boracay have emerged as top Holy Week destinations for Filipinos this year, Agoda booking data also reveal Pinoys have made plans to spend their Lenten season break outside of the country.

Four out of the ten most booked destinations via Agoda by Filipinos for the Easter period are in neighboring Asian countries. Seoul and Taipei have nudged their way into the top ten destinations for the first time in at least three years, while Tokyo and Hong Kong have risen up the ranks in the top five.

With spring in full swing, these four cities make for great jump-off points for travelers looking to reconnect with their spirituality through the beauty of nature.

Keeping It Local

Coupled with the rising popularity of international destinations, domestic destinations top the rankings, with Manila and Cebu taking the top two spots, according to Agoda’s booking numbers. Given Pinoys’ strong familial ties, spending a week of contemplation, introspection, and reflection with loved ones only seems fitting.

Boracay rounding off the top three did not come as a surprise as the reopening of the famous stretch of white sand beach has been a highly anticipated occasion for local and foreign tourists alike. This time off also serves as a way to start the summer festivities for Pinoys, with Baguio, Batangas, and Palawan completing the list of 10 for this year’s Holy Week travels.
