Filipino artists exhibit works in Montreuil, Paris

Paris — Filipino artists have once again showcased their artworks at the 21st Portes Ouvertes Des Ateliers D’Artistes de Montreuil (Open House of Artists’ Workshop) held in the Paris suburb, Montreuil on October 11 to 14, 2019.

The event brought together over 700 artists based near Montreuil, including six Filipinos based in France namely, Lovelie Albarracin, Romeo “Dhon” Dela Paz Jr., Francis Eric Dimarucut, Marie Veronica Expert, and Dick Villanueva.  They were also joined by a former French resident, the Filipino artist named “Cris” who is now based in Amsterdam.

More than 40 paintings created by these Filipino contemporary artists were displayed at the Centre de quartier des Ramenas, one of the art spaces in Montreuil.  It showcased the artists’ mastery in different art styles from realism, landscape, symbolism, to 3D.

Dhon dela Paz said that last year’s edition of the event was the first opportunity for Filipino artists to collaborate in a single exhibition.  He was pleased to see more Filipino artists participating this year.

Montreuil has been said to be the home of the largest number of art workshops and artists in France. Since 1999, the city has been a host to hundreds of artists during its annual Open House of Artists’ Workshop that provides a venue for artists and art enthusiasts alike to meet, share and promote their crafts.
