Designing the past to present: CCP to launch an art book for its 50th Anniversary

CCP COMPLEX, Pasay City — Hold (and read!) an entire exhibit with your own hands for the Cultural Center of the Philippines will launch an exhibition book entitled POSTER/ITY: 50 Years of Art and Culture at the CCP this coming November 26, 2019, 6:00 the Main Gallery, 3rd floor, CCP Main Building, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.

The book features the posters that are currently exhibited at the CCP in line with the celebration of its 50th anniversary. The CCP’s timeline is also featured and it shows the significance of the posters and how they portrayed the artistic directions of Filipino aesthetics that evolved from the 70s towards the search of a new identity in this present age.

Join us in re-living the past through the music of the artists Ken Liwanag, an alternative rock band from Imus, Cavite, who will give their rendition of songs of Juan Dela Cruz Band, and Cris Go, an opera singer who will once again give life to Dionne Warwick’s songs that are based from the posters of the original artists’ past concerts in the CCP.

To celebrate our literary roots, the Performatura Slam Poetry Contest grand prize winner and 2019 Palanca awardee Ralph Lorenz Fonte will perform an excerpt from Francisco Balagtas’ Orosman at Zafira. The said classic was performed in the past by the Teatro Pilipino, as seen in one of the posters in the exhibit.

There will also be talks and messages from the people who are expert in this field of art such as Ringo Bunoan, Baby Imperial and CCP’s chief librarian Alice M. Esteves.

As CCP’s participation for the celebration of the Philippine Book Development Month, the book launch will be free and open to public.
