HONG KONG 28 February 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong and Madame Tussauds Hong Kong co-organized a pre-launch event for Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach’s wax figure at the Star Hall, Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre on 17 February 2019.
The event, marketed simultaneously on social media as #PiaMadeIconic, gathered Hong Kong-based Filipino performers Da Hiking Boyz from the Hong Kong Musicians Union and the Prime Credit Superstars, who performed covers of well-known Filipino pop and rock songs.
Jun “Tita Kerry” Paragas and Jay “The Big J” Martinez, from the popular Filipino radio show “Pinoy Tayo Saan man” on Metroplus 1044 in Hong Kong hosted the program, which was attended by both Filipino household service workers and Filipino residents, who danced to the music and enjoyed the interactive game portions with Ms. Wurtzbach.
During her segment, the last and main part of the four-hour program, Ms. Wurtzbach announced that a similar event is set in Manila next month.
The Filipina is now the first Filipino to be featured in the world-famous Madamme Tussauds wax museum. Her wax figure is set to be installed at the Madamme Tussauds Hong Kong in April this year.
