Tehran 31 October 2018 — The Philippine Embassy in Tehran, represented by Cultural Officer Amparo L. Malayo and Administrative Officer Carolina S.J. Baluyot, participated in a one-day sightseeing tour of Tehran organized by the ECO Cultural Institute for members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Islamic Republic of Iran on 20 October 2018.

The tour included visits to several villages known for their local cultural heritage, beautiful gardens, and handicraft stores. These villages are Sameh Village, where the Embassy representatives joined other diplomats in planting saffron seeds. Saffron is a spice derived from the flower of Crocus sativus, commonly known as the saffron crocus, and is one of the main export products of Iran.

The tour group also visited saffron farms in Hermes Village, where they were hosted for lunch at the historic Hajar Abad garden, known for its grape farms.
