Filipino Architects in UAE Encouraged to Design Zayed House

ABU DHABI 20 October 2018 – Filipino architects in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are encouraged to submit their designs for a contest geared towards sustainability.

Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn M. Quintana said this as she graced the launch of Zayed House Architectural Design Competition sponsored by the UAE government through the Liter of Light Global Foundation, winner of Expo Live Innovation Impact Grant 2017 and Zayed Future Energy Prize 2015 at the Herman Miller in Marina Plaza, Dubai on 01 October 2018

In her remarks, Ambassador Quintana encouraged Filipino architects to submit their innovative and sustainable designs and be visible to the run-up and during Expo 2020 Dubai, the best platform to display their talents to the global stage.

The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) -Dubai Chapter has 402 members working in top architectural firms headquartered in Dubai.

Ambassador Quintana witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Zayed House: A Green Pavilion project between Liter of Light Founder Illac Diaz and UAE-Dubai Chapter Christian Vasquez. The signing coincided with the group’s s celebration of the World Architecture Day 2018.


Zayed House is named after the Founder of the United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The year 2018 was declared by the UAE as the Year of Zayed in commemoration of the centennial year of his birth. The Zayed House is a tribute to the “Father of the Nation” and his legacy of sustainability.

Mr. Diaz hopes to use the Zayed House as a virtual reality platform to enable more Filipinos to experience Expo 2020 which will be held in Dubai from October 2020 to April 2021. END
