Davao-based Filipino artist Joel L. Geolamen’s “Untitled Land” was among the featured artworks at an international exhibit entitled “The Future We Want” organized by the United Nations Office in Geneva (UNOG). The said exhibit, part of UNOG’s festivities in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, will run until 12 November this year.

The said artwork took its place among the top ten highest rated entries to the UNOG-organized International Art Contest. The top ten were selected from forty-four participating countries through online voting from 11 May to 15 June 2020.  Out of the top ten highest rated artworks, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, were announced as winners after the final selection process, and Brazil won a special prize chosen by UNOG Director General Tatiana Valovaya.

Philippine Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva Ambassador Evan P. Garcia joined UNOG Director General Tatiana Valovaya and other dignitaries in opening the exhibit at the Palais des Nations on 22 October. The Palais is the stately and historic headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva.

The exhibit will likewise be showcased at the D10 Art Space in the city of Geneva from 17 November 2020 until mid-January 2021.
