SINGAPORE 31 October 2018 —The Philippine Embassy in Singapore’s Art Trek, an annual cultural event, showcased its sixth and seventh exhibitions on 04 October 2018 at the Utterly Art Gallery and on 05 October 2018 at the Kult Studio and Gallery.
Utterly Art’s featured artist, Mr. Jonathan Joven, captivated art enthusiasts with his depiction of life from the ground up through his exhibit entitled “Same Ground.” “No matter what our status in life, we remain beings of the same humanity and rooted in the same ground,” this was the message on equality that Joven tried to convey in his artworks.
Meanwhile, for the first time in the twelve years of Art Trek, a Filipino toy artist was featured. Quiccs Maiquez, was jointly featured with other toy artists from Singapore, US and Japan, in the exhibition “The SuperSucklord: Bootleg Toy Supervillain” at Kult Studio and Gallery.
Quiccs was inspired by the bootleg culture and the popularity of art-toys in the Philippines.
The guests enjoyed the party atmosphere at the exhibit with interactive games while admiring the art-toys inspired by vintage advertising, pop icons and celebrity worship culture.
Joven’s exhibition at the Utterly Art Gallery was held until 04 October 2018, Quiccs’ art-toy exhibition was held at the Kult Gallery until 22 October 2018.
