Calgary, Canada — As show of support and solidarity with the Filipino community, the Consul General in Calgary Zaldy Patron visited the Philippine Pavilion at the GlobalFest in Elliston Park on August 20, 2019.
Consul General Patron expressed his appreciation to the Diaryo Alberta Society (DAS) for its lead role in putting up the Philippine Pavilion and the Philippine Food Kiosk that showcased Philippine products and dishes during the GlobalFest. DAS also organized Philippine cultural shows held at the Philippine Pavilion.
The Philippine Pavilion has been participating in the GlobalFest for 12 years now, while the Philippine Food Kiosk is now on its fourth year of participation.
The Consul General also thanked DAS for distributing the flyers of the Winter Escapade 7, a travel tour to take place in the Philippines on January 15 – 22, 2020. Winter Escapade is joint project of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the Philippine Consulates General in Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver, in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Tourism, Tourism Promotion Board, and Rajah Tours Philippines, the designated ground handler of Winter Escapade 7.
Now on its 17th year, the GlobalFest, which runs from August 15 – 24, 2019, features the OneWorld Festival with up to 24 Cultural Pavilions, 14 ethnic food kiosks, and a 12-vendor Night Market, and the International Fireworks Festival with up to six fireworks presentations from international teams.
Upon the invitation of Chinese Consul General Lu Xu, Consul General Patron also watched the China Night of the GlobalFest International Fireworks Festival on 20 August 2019.
