Rome, Italy — Filipino film “Signal Rock” of director Chito S. Roño was screened on August 1, 2019 at the 25th Edition of L’Isola del Cinema at Isola Tiberina, one of the most prominent annual summer events in Rome. The event was well attended, with the 75-seat Cinelab cinema of the film festival filled with members of the diplomatic corps, Italians, Filipino community, and expats.

“We are showing this film in Rome as part of the 100th anniversary of Philippine cinema,” said Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco said during the event.

The Philippine Embassy in Rome and Sentro Rizal Rome Chapter organized the screening with Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) as part of its Philippine Embassies Assistance Program.

“This is one of the ways not only to promote Philippine culture and excellence in Philippine cinema, but also to increase mutual understanding and people-to-people ties between the Philippines and Italy,” Ambassador Nolasco said.
