Just in time for the Easter weekend, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomed home yet another batch of overseas Filipinos from the United States—over 400 seafarers from several cruise ships, the Carnival Fantasy, Freedom, Glory, Legend, and Valor.
As part of the COVID-19 health measures, prior to returning to their homes the newly arrived are undergoing the mandatory quarantine.
The flight, made possible through the coordination of the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC and United PH Lines (the local manning agency), was the second of five repatriations that brought home more than a thousand OFWs from the United States and Europe.
Since February, the DFA has already surpassed the 10,000 mark in the assisted repatriations of OFWs from all around the World.
As the repatriations crossed its 11th straight day, the DFA and partner agencies, including DOH-BOQ, DOLE-OWWA and DOTr, stand ready to assist OFWs through the COVID-19 global pandemic.
