From all across the globe, the Department of Foreign Affairs continued its busy mission of repatriating citizens of the Philippines. On Good Friday afternoon, a set of 265 crewmen from the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States returned home safely.
Comprised of 126 crew members of the Norwegian Jewel, 10 crew of MS Albatros, 33 crew of MV Viking Star and 96 crew of Carnival Cruises (Ecstacy, Horizon, Legend and Sunrise), the group underwent the required medical protocols as set forth by the DOH and BOQ and will undergo the necessary quarantine likewise.
The DFA, together with the CF Sharp Crew Management Inc., BSM Crew Service Centre Philippines Inc., Magsaysay Maritime Corporation and United Philippine Lines Inc. , the local manning agencies of the said vessels, facilitated the said repatriation, in coordination with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Philippine Embassies in London, Berlin and Washington D.C. and the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles.
Representatives of OWWA, Department of Health, Bureau of Quarantine and Manila International Airport Authority, participated in the welcoming of the repatriates.
