With just a few days to prepare, the Department of Public Works and Highways is providing assistance to the Philippine General Hospital in time to become one of four COVID-19 referral centers in the National Capital Region. With imminent operation underway, Secretary Villar initiated the sending of technical personnel led by Undersecretary Sadain to assess whatever is required by UP-PGH.
DPWH National Capital Region Director Ador G. Canlas has sent a team of construction workers and electricians to fix electrical and ventilation of UP-PGH identified space which will be utilized by patients beginning next week. This was after the inspection of Manila’s biggest government hospital facility under the University of the Philippines-Manila was conducted by Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain with UP-PGH Director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi, UP-PGH Architect Dan Lichauco, DPWH NCR Director Canlas, Bureau of Maintenance Director Ernesto Gregorio Jr. and Bureau of Design Director Aristarco Doroy.
The designated COVID ward will be distinctly separated from the hospital’s other non-COVID-19 patients.
Sadain said that DPWH and PGH workers will be making a push to fix everything including the installations of new available window fans on the dedicated ward rooms that will treat people affected by pandemic.
