DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental – Preparations for the Buglasan Festival 2026 continue to gain momentum as the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental, under the leadership of Governor Manuel Sagarbarria, convened the Second Planning and Coordination Meeting on July 30, 2026, bringing together committee heads, local tourism officers, partner agencies, and key stakeholders to finalize plans for the Province’s premier cultural celebration.

Organized by the Provincial Tourism Office, the meeting, presided by Provincial Tourism Board Executive Director Woodrow Maquiling Jr. and Buglasan Festival Director Glynda Descuatan, focused on reviewing committee updates, refining operational plans, and ensuring that all activities are on track for a safe, organized, and successful staging of the Festival of Festivals.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the confirmation of participation from the province’s local government units in the festival’s major events. A total of 23 local government units (LGUs) have confirmed their participation in the LGU Booth Fair Competition, showcasing their unique tourism attractions, local products, culture, and heritage. Meanwhile, 10 LGUs are set to compete in the much-anticipated Buglasan Festival of Festivals, where municipalities and cities will present their signature festivals through vibrant performances celebrating the province’s rich cultural identity.

Adding color and excitement to the festivities, nine (9) LGUs will participate in the Parada sa Kahayag Float Competition, featuring creatively designed and illuminated floats that will highlight the artistry, creativity, and traditions of their respective localities.

The meeting likewise confirmed the participation of 21 official candidates for Hara sa Negros Oriental 2026, who will represent their respective cities and municipalities in the province’s most prestigious pageant. The competition will not only celebrate beauty and grace but will also promote tourism, culture, environmental stewardship, and the advocacy of empowered Negrense women.

Executive Director Maquiling emphasized that the overwhelming participation of the LGUs reflects the strong commitment of local governments to preserving and promoting the province’s cultural heritage while stimulating tourism and economic activity.

“Buglasan is more than our annual celebration—it is a showcase of the unity, creativity, and resilience of every Negrense community. The active participation of our cities and municipalities demonstrates our shared commitment to promoting the very best of Negros Oriental and providing visitors with an unforgettable cultural experience,” Maquiling said.

Known as the Festival of Festivals, Buglasan remains the Province of Negros Oriental’s flagship cultural event, serving as a platform to celebrate local traditions, promote tourism destinations, support local enterprises, and strengthen partnerships among government agencies, communities, and the private sector.

With preparations now in full swing, the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental remains committed to delivering a memorable Buglasan Festival 2026 that truly reflects the province’s vibrant culture, diverse traditions, and warm Negrense hospitality.
