The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa hosted the Philippines-Canada Education Networking Session, marking another milestone as the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and several Canadian organizations declared their shared commitment to strengthen linkages and dialogue on higher education cooperation on 29 March 2022 at the Embassy Chancery’s Mindanao Hall.
The event was attended by officials from CHED led by Chairman J. Prospero De Vera III, heads of Philippine universities and colleagues from Luzon and Visayas, as well as representatives of the Canadian Bureau of International Education, Colleges and Institutes Canada, and Universities Canada. Officials from Global Affairs CAnada and Canadian educational institutions in Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Ontario also joined the event.
Philippine Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo Robles welcomed the participants and expressed his strong support for Philippines-Canada education cooperation. He noted the many programs already implemented by both countries in the last twenty years and shared his optimism that there is more room to expand cooperation in the various areas of education.
Canadian Bureau of International Education President and CEO Larissa Bezo presented Chairman De Vera with a Certificate of Recognition for CHED’s work with the CBIE During the event.
On behalf of CHED, Chairman De Vera signed Joint Statements on Cooperation in Higher Education with Universities Canada and Colleges and Institutes Canada (CIC) while the heads of Philippine universities and colleges signed Letters of Intent with the same organizations, signaling their commitment to support and implement the various programs that would develop from their upcoming initiatives.
