Philippine Posts in Canada, in partnership with the Department of Tourism officially, launched the first ever Filipino Restaurant Month throughout Canada on 21 March 2022.

The event was hybrid with in-person program held at the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, while the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and Philippine Consulates General in Toronto and Vancouver live-streamed their participation and activities into the program in Calgary .Participating restaurants, media, and other guests also dialed in from various locations throughout the country.

The project brings focus to the diverse Filipino cuisines available through the various Filipino restaurants in the country.

A total of 40 restaurants representing the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan are participating in Filipino Restaurant Month by offering prix fixe menus for its customers this April. In Eastern Canada, five restaurants have joined this event, namely, Beck’s Filipino Cuisine (Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, QC), Junior Filipino (Montreal, QC), La Republika (Montreal, QC), Silong Express (Halifax, NS), and Tamis Café (Ottawa, ON).

“Through the Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada, we aim to increase awareness of and appreciation for the rich, flavorful, and unique Filipino cuisines,” stated Philippine Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo D. Robles. “By introducing our Canadian friends to Filipino cuisines, we hope that more of them will also be encouraged to visit the Philippines to experience the warmth and hospitality of the Filipinos and enjoy the natural beauty of our country.”
