DUBAI 11 January 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, in partnership with the United International Private School (UIPS), held the fifth episode of the Consulate General’s The History Hour, hosted on the Facebook page of Consul General to Dubai Paul Raymund Cortes on 22 November 2018.

The November 2018 episode tackled Tolerance in United Arab Emirates (UAE) Society and how the rest of the global community could emulate the UAE template in maintaining peace and stability. The live broadcast drew the viewership of some 4,400 individual Facebook accounts and reached some 10,000 feeds.

Along with the regular participation of the UIPS students, National UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines chair Dr. Serafin Arviola was also present to share his views on tolerance and its role in a multi-cultural society such as that of the UAE.

The History Hour is the Consulate General’s avenue to initiate a dialogue and discussion with young overseas Filipinos on their perspectives and views on issues that are of critical importance to the diaspora and the global community. The past episodes tackled Philippine tourism, Filipino values and the digital divide, indigenous peoples, and governance.
