Filipino Ballet Dancer headlines Nairobi Production of Nutcracker

Nairobi — The Nutcracker production in Naoribi features in the lead male role Arnie Unayam, a Filipino choreographer of the Academy of Dance and Art, as reported by the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi.

The Philippine Embassy in Nairobi attended the Premier of The Nutcracker, a production by the Academy of Dance and Art, at the Kenyan National Theater on 16 November 2019.

Unayam studied Technical Theatre at the De la Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s School of Design and Arts and danced with the Filipinas Dance Company under the Direction of Leonor Orosa Goquinco.

Artistic Director Robert Policarpio, formerly of the Philippine Ballet Theatre and Ballet Philippines, choreographed and produced The Nutcracker for The Academy of Dance and Art.

Consul General to Guam Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian congratulated Mr. Unayam and Mr. Policarpio after the show and thanked them for being a credit to the Filipino people by lending their artistic talents to Kenyan Ballet and shaping young Kenyan dancers.

Vice Consul Maria Rosanna O. Josue accompanied Consul General Auxilian.
