CANBERRA 31 July 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Canberra and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO)-Canberra launched the “Student Helplines in Australia,” a pocket brochure containing important contact information for Filipino students studying in Australia and useful tips during their stay.
The brochure is a joint initiative of the Embassy and POLO-Canberra, to ensure that Filipino students in Australia are equipped with the knowledge to make their stay in Australia safe and productive.
Ambassador to Australia Minda Calaguian-Cruz and Labor Attache Atty. Rodolfo Sabulao presented the helplines during the First Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) for Filipino students at the Philippine Embassy in Canberra on 07 July 2018.
More than 20 Filipino students participated in a half-day seminar to discuss consular issues, security tips, health awareness, and student support services.
Resource persons were Armed Forces and Defense Attaché Colonel Dennis Gammad, Anup Pereira of ACT Hepatitis, Yelin Hung of ACT Health Care Consumers, and Rodolfo Sabulao and Van Joe Ibay of the Filipino Australian Health Professionals Inc.
The PAOS was supported by ACT Hepatitis in celebration of World Hepatitis Day in July, and the Filipino Australian Health Professionals Inc.
The brochure can be downloaded from the Embassy’s official website (www.philembassy.org.au) and Facebook page (@PHinAustralia).
