The Department of Foreign Affairs surpassed the 20,000 mark in total number of repatriated Filipinos with the recent arrival of two chartered flights from London where 610 seafarers of the MV Queen Mary 2 arrived on Saturday, April 25.

The crew were met by officials of the DFA along with officers from the Singa Ship Management Philippines, Inc., Career Philippines Ship Management Inc. and Magsaysay Maritime Corporation—the local manning agencies of the Queen Mary 2.

The repatriation of this batch of seafarers was made possible with cooperation of the management of MV Mary Queen 2 and assistance of the Philippine Embassy in London.

Representatives of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Tourism, Department of Health, Bureau of Quarantine, Department of Transportation, Philippine Coast Guard, Maritime Industry Authority and Manila International Airport Authority joined in welcoming the repatriates.

All 610 Filipinos underwent the appropriate airport medical protocols and will undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine as required by DOH-BOQ.
