Nauru — To bring together the Filipino people in Nauru, the Filipino community agreed to officially form its association and elected their officers on the heels of the visit of Philippine Non-Resident Ambassador to Nauru Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega to Nauru on 27 November 2019.
Ambassador De La Vega called on Filipinos in Nauru, estimated to be around 65, to be united and emphasized the positive image of the community which has been recognized by President Aingimea himself and other government officials. Likiewise, Ambassador De La Vega enjoined the community to participate in the overseas voters’ registration for the National Elections of the Philippines in May 2022.
Ambassador De La Vega congratulated Mr. Bong dela Cruz, as the President, and the officers of the association and encouraged them to work with their members in unity and to celebrate the more than 50 years of relations between the Philippines and Nauru. She committed to have another consular mission to Nauru in 2020 following the last consular mission to Nauru in February 2019.
