In line with its efforts to ramp up the city’s vaccination rate, the local government of Taguig has opened its third mega vaccination hub at the Samsung Hall in SM Aura.

The facility, which can accommodate 1,000 vaccines at a time, is in addition to the two mega vaccination hubs which have been established and are already operational at the Lakeshore area and Vista Mall Parking Building.

National Task Force (NTF) against COVID 19 Chief Implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr and NTF Deputy Chief Implementer and testing czar Secretary Vivencio Dizon visited the hub today to view its operations.

The task force officials were welcomed by Senator Pia Cayetano, Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano, and SM Aura representatives.

“Naniniwala kami na magandang modelo ang paggamit ng mga malls [as vaccination sites], noted Mayor Cayetano.

The mayor said that the local government is also in talks with the management of other malls to encourage them to open vaccination hubs such as the ones located at the Bonifacio High Street and Venice Grand Canal Mall.

Meanwhile, Galvez commended the city government for coming up with an “innovative” way to boost their vaccination rate.

He said that the model can be replicated by other local government units not just within Metro Manila but in the provinces as well.

“Maganda ang ginawa ni Mayor Cayetano and SM group na talagang binigyan ng space ang mamamayan, especially seniors and those with comorbidities ng convenient and very enticing [vaccination] venue,” said Galvez.

Apart from the mega vaccination hubs, the city also operates four community vaccine centers which include the RP Cruz Elementary School, Maharlika Elementary School, EM’s Signal Village Elementary School and Western Bicutan National High School.

Taguig City also launched a vaccination bus, a mobile immunization facility that provides citizens a more accessible and convenient way to be inoculated.
