The Philippines receives Encyclopaedia of Mango Trees from Oman

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and Assistant Director for Research and Development Management of the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) – Department of Agriculture (DA) Dr. Jonar I. Yago received the donated Encyclopaedia of Mango Trees from the Omani Government, represented by Omani Ambassador to the Philippines Munther Mahfoodh Salem Al-Mantheri on 18 March 2021.

The complete set of The Mango Tree Encyclopedia, comprises five volumes of comprehensive reference work on mango trees, their production, pest and diseases, as well as existing varieties around the world. The following institutions will each receive a set of the encyclopedia: (1) The Crop Physiology Department of the National Mango Research and Development Center (NMRDC), a unit of DA-BPI; (2) The Post-Harvest Horticulture Training and Research Center (PHTRC) of the University of the Philippines in Los Baños (UPLB); and (3) the Institute of Plant Breeding, also of the UPLB.
