SHANGHAI 12 December 2018 – Consul General in Shanghai Wilfredo R. Cuyugan received a group from the United Architects of the Philippines-Shanghai Chapter (UAP-SC) led by President Architect Edgardo T. Budoy on 05 December 2018.

During the courtesy call on the Consul General, Architect Budoy gave a brief presentation on the history, mission, and activities of UAP-SC. He said the UAP-SC was established on 21 March 2015 and its mission was “to develop and uphold the professional practice of architecture in China.”

As current president, Architect Budoy aspired to turn the UAP-SC into a “bridge between the Philippines and China, as well as a bridge to other fields and professions.” He said UAP-SC had been active in promoting the architecture profession in mainland China and in upgrading the skills of its members through seminars.

For his part, Consul General Cuyugan commended UAP-SC for representing Filipino architects in China, and for reflecting Filipino proficiency and excellence in architecture and related fields.

In recalling the contributions of Filipino architects and the role they played in Shanghai’s development, the Consul General likened them to Filipino diplomats in projecting the best qualities of the Filipino people.

During the call, Consul General Cuyugan was joined by Consul Conrado B. Demdem Jr., while Architect Budoy was accompanied by UAP-SC Directors Alex C. De Dios and Rogelio L. Maputi, Jr. and Secretary Berphine C. Tan.
