MALACAÑAN — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Monday, January 21, received the credentials of Non-Resident Ambassadors-Designate of the Republic of Peru, Republic of The Gambia, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Republic of Sudan, and the Republic of Lithuania at the Rizal Hall in Malacañan Palace.

First to submit his credentials to the President was Fernando Julio Antonio Campos Quiros of the Republic of Peru.

Accompanying the Ambassador were Dr. Francis Chua, Consul General, and Ms. Nela Suban-Santos, Head of the Consular Office of Peru.

Next was from the Republic of The Gambia, Ambassador Ramzia Diab Ghanim, who also presented his credentials to the Chief Executive.

Accompanying the Ambassador was Ms. Ma. Agnes Huibonhoa, Consul, and Mr. Ajie Bintan Bojang, Protocol Officer.

This was followed by His Excellency Gurbanmammet Elyasov from Turkmenistan with his wife Elyasova Gurbanbagt. Both of them were joined by Annagylyjov Serdar, Attaché of the Embassy and his spouse Annagylyjova Gulnar.

After the Turkmenistani Ambassador, Her Excellency Dorothy Samali Hyuha of Uganda presented her credentials to the President, and she was accompanied by Uganda’s First Secretary, Kwitonda Bigira Alex.

Following the Ugandan Ambassador was the Ambassador from The Republic of Sudan, His Excellency Hamza Omer Hassan Ahmed. He was joined by Mr. Victorino Floro, Jr., Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Sudan in the Philippines.

Lastly, His Excellency Gediminis Varvuolis of the Republic of Lithuania also presented his credentials to President Duterte.

Accompanying Ambassador Varvuolis were his wife Rasa Varvuoliene, Mr. Romualdas Vildzius, Honorary Consul, and Julia Netta Peña, Consulate Officer.

Also present during the presentation of credentials were Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin and DFA Chief of Protocol Assistant Secretary Orones Castro.

Japanese Ambassador pays courtesy call

Meanwhile, after the presentation of credentials ceremony, Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda paid a courtesy call on President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañan to discuss issues of mutual interests.

President Duterte thanked Haneda for visiting him to discuss issues with utmost importance for the two countries.

Accompanying Ambassador Haneda were Minister Makoto Iyori and Second Secretary Yusuke Ozawa.

To represent the Philippine Government, those present were Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ernesto Abella, Trade and Industry Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo, and NEDA Undersecretary Adoracion Navarro.

Ambassador Haneda arrived in the Philippines on October 14, 2017. Since becoming the new Japanese ambassador, he pledged to make every effort to promote and enhance the strategic partnership and friendly ties between the Philippines and Japan.
