PASAY CITY, Jan. 16 — A building attendant yesterday proved that the culture of honesty truly permeates at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

While doing his job at Terminal 1 arrival lobby, Jeffrey Almoguerra, an employee of Philcare Manpower Services, chanced upon an envelope containing a significant amount of US dollar bills. He found it at the vicinity of a foreign exchange counter.

Almoguerra immediately reported the matter to a nearby security guard who accompanied him to the MIAA Lost and Found Section where the envelope was turned over.

In their presence, the dollar bills were inventoried and properly documented.

As of press time, the Lost and Found authorities are waiting for the envelope’s claimant who should be able to prove that he or she is the rightful owner because the envelope had no markings on it. The amount has yet to be publicly disclosed, as it will form part of the confirmatory information that MIAA will be asking from possible claimants.

Almoguerra is 30 years old, and resides in Parañaque. He has been employed by Philcare Manpower Services for one (1) year. He is raising his two (2) children out of his modest earnings as a janitor.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal takes pride in this display of honesty, and has directed for Almoguerra’s inclusion in the roster of award recipients for MIAA’s February flag raising ceremony.

“We do this on purpose because we want everyone in the MIAA organization to emulate simple yet noble deeds such as what Mr. Almoguerra exhibited. I urge all our service contractors to also recognize their employees for their simple achievements and take care of them because they set good examples. We want goodness and honesty to become viral in NAIA,” GM Monreal said.
