QUEZON CITY, Nov. 13 (PIA)–The Quezon City government launched ‘Batas QC’, the first mobile application on local ordinances.
During its launch last Tuesday, 06 November, over 300 mobile tablets and devices were given to the Quezon City Police District Commanders and community precincts, Environmental Protection and Waste Management Department (EPWMD) environmental enforcers, Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) traffic enforcers, barangays, and SangguniangKabataan Federation.
Available on the android platform and can be downloaded through Google Playstore. ‘Batas QC’ can also be accessed at www.batasqc.com.
PSupt. Wilson Delos Santos, Chief of the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), said that the app will become really useful as it will be utilized by the police as reference on the ordinances.
“’Pag nandon na sila sa kalsada, dala-dala lang nila ang smart phones nila, kaya na nilang sabihin sa hinuhuli nila kung bakit sila nahuli,” Delos Santos said.
According to Barangay Libis Chairperson Leny Glivano, law enforcers in their barangay take so much time looking for specific ordinances to cite against violations.
Through Batas QC, the law enforcement process will be implemented more efficiently, Glivano said.
“It can help barangay officials implement ‘yung mga ordinance kasi mauunawaan na mismo ng mga constituent yung batas,” Glivano added.
‘Batas QC’ also aims to educate the city’s residents regarding existing ordinances implemented in the city and their corresponding penalties when violated.
“Many of our residents bring up concerns that are already being tackled by existing ordinances, pero dahil hindi pa nila alam, hindi sila nakakasunod sa batas o nagbebenepisyo sa mga serbisyong nandiyan na,” Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte stressed.
“Sa pamamagitan po ng batas QC app, magkakaroon na tayo ng transparency because every citizen starting today will now be empowered with regards to the laws passed by the city council, and with regards to the penalties that are associated with these ordinances,” Belmonte said.
