In response to requests of Filipino caregivers working in retirement homes, a team from the Philippine Embassy in Israel led by Vice Consul Judy Razon and Welfare Officer Dina Ponciano conducted mobile overseas voting registration and OWWA membership registration in two beit avot (retirement homes) in Herzliya and Bitan Aharon on 08 and 10 June 2021.
Following the service outreach, Vice Consul Razon, WelOff Ponciano, and Cultural Attaché Geraldine Gamoso attended a celebration of the 123rd Anniversary of Philippine Independence, organized by the management of Beit Protea in Herzliya for the 35 Filipino caregivers working there. The Filipino caregivers held a cultural performance featuring various Philippine folk dances including Tinikling, Pandanggo sa Ilaw, Waray-waray, Bulaklakan, Salakot, and Mazurka Boholana. They also performed original Filipino compositions such as the Filipino pop rock classics Anak by Freddie Aguilar, Handog by Florante, and Pinoy Ako by Orange and Lemons.
The Embassy is currently preparing to hold additional mobile overseas voter registration drives in different cities, in order to extend the opportunity to register to as many eligible overseas Filipino voters in Israel as possible before the registration period ends in September 2021. Other services such as OWWA membership registration may also be made available during the voter registration drive, subject to prior coordination with the Embassy.
