OTTAWA, Canada — The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa launched in late December its “Women’s Directory,” a list of community resources for Overseas Filipino women in Ottawa. The Directory was created in collaboration with Women’s Initiatives for Safer Environments (WISE Ottawa), a local non-profit organization working to promote women’s safety and prevent and end violence against women.
Included in the Directory are information on crisis hotlines, shelter organizations, community centers, and health centers in Ottawa, among others. A list of contact details of Philippine Foreign Service Posts, Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLO), and other agencies such as the Philippine Social Security System and pag-IBIG offices in Canada may also be found in the Directory.
“With the ongoing pandemic, countries around the world have seen an increase in cases of violence against women,” noted Philippine Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo D. Robles. “We hope this Directory can be a useful resource for Overseas Filipino women in Ottawa who may need this information or know someone who does.”
The Directory is available for free at the Philippine Embassy. Interested persons may also request a copy of the Directory at [email protected].
