Philippine Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Evan P. Garcia joined United Nations Office in Geneva (UNOG) Director-General Tatiana Valovaya and other dignitaries in opening an art exhibit at D10 Art Space, one of Geneva’s known art galleries, on 28 December 2020.
Davao-based Filipino artist Joel L. Geolamen’s “Untitled Land” was among the featured artworks at said exhibit, which ran from 15 December 2020 until January 20201. The said artwork was among the highest rated entries to an International Art Contest that UNOG announced on 19 June 2020 in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations.
Mr. Geolamen’s “Untitled Land” was also featured at an exhibit for diplomats at the Palais des Nations, the stately and historic headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva.
The said artwork, as described by Mr. Geolamen symbolizes that the future we want is a world where natural resources and ecosystems are protected while recognizing that ancestral lands should also be guarded and nurtured, will find its permanent home at the newly built Philippine Chancery in Geneva, which is expected to open next month.
