Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles urges Filipino-Americans to be counted in 2020 United States Census

The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, in partnership with the United States Census Bureau, distributed information paraphernalia on the conduct of the 2020 United States Census to the Filipino-American community on 19 August 2020. This is part of the Consulate General’s effort to encourage the community to be counted by participating in the decennial census.

Census data determines the number of congressional seats given to a State and is the basis of Federal and State funding allocation. These are vital policy matters that impact the daily lives of Filipino-Americans.

The United States Constitution mandates the conduct of a general census every ten years. For the 2020 census, the Bureau has designated a Filipino-American partnership specialist, Mr. Eric Lachica, to coordinate the census campaign among Filipino-Americans in Southern California.
