The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) closes in on its third month of repatriation efforts since the flight from Wuhan, China, and continues to sustain its unrelenting efforts to bring our kababayan home safely at these extraordinarily difficult times.
Today, the DFA welcomed home a total of 786 Overseas Filipinos on board four different flights from USA, Germany, Cambodia, and Portugal.
First among today’s arrivals were 124 stranded Filipinos from San Francisco, USA aboard a commercial PAL flight. This was followed by the arrival of 375 seafarers of AIDA Cruises from Hamburg, Germany through a chartered flight arranged by their local manning agency, Magsaysay Maritime Corporation. The third flight carried another set of 167 stranded Filipinos from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The last flight brought in 120 Filipino crew members of MV Star Pride from Lisbon, Portugal.
Upon disembarkation, all repatriated Filipinos underwent the mandatory RT PCR test, otherwise known as the swabbing test, before proceeding to their respective stringent quarantine facilities where they will be staying for 14 days.
Today’s arrivals were made possible through the initiative of the Philippine Embassies in Berlin, Washington DC, Phnom Penh, and Lisbon, the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, and the continued close coordination with partner agencies, notably, the Department of Health – Bureau of Quarantine, Department of Tourism, Department of Transportation, Philippine Coast Guard, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and Commission on Filipinos Overseas.
