The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu officially launched the 2022 Filipino Food Week (FFW) at Stage Restaurant in Honolulu on 16 June 2022 with local media personalities and food bloggers among those in attendance. Stage is one of 20 participating restaurants in this year’s FFW, which will run from June 20 to 26. During the reception, Stage provided attendees with a taste of its FFW offering by preparing delectable sisig pork buns. Moreover, cocktail drinks and desserts were served utilizing Philippine ingredients such as coconut, calamansi and ube.
“I invite everyone to sample the creations of these talented chefs and get a taste of Philippine cuisine.” Consul General Emil Fernandez said. “With this activity, those in Hawaii will not have to travel to Manila to eat good Filipino food,” he added.
FFW began in 2019 during which participating establishments showcase special Filipino dishes and drinks on their menu for a whole week. Other Philippine Consulates throughout the US also organize similar activities to promote Philippine cuisine, as part of the country’s cultural diplomacy efforts.
FFW had been held annually until the outbreak of the COVID pandemic.
