Philippine Ambassador to Turkey Maria Elena P. Algabre led the Embassy team in the four-day promotion of the Philippines as a tourism destination at the 5th TRAVELEXPO Ankara (TEA), the largest tourism fair in Turkey’s capital, held from 03 to 06 March 2022.

WIth the country’s borders now open since 10 February to fully-vaccinated international travelers, including those from Turkey, the Embassy booth attracted nearly 400 visitors as it featured the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) promotional videos and brochures, printed both in English and Turkish, of the country’s globally-renowned beaches and dive destinations, as well as the Filipino sorbetes in the traditional flavors of ube, mango, pandan and macapuno served by the Embassy’s Mamang Sorbetero in a Philippine ice cream cart.

Visitors took souvenir photos with the #itsmorefuninthephilippines photo frame at the Embassy booth and were given loot bags with iconic Filipino Oishi snack food products from the Philippines’ Liwayway Marketing Corporation, as well as the It’s More Fun in the Philippines tumblers.

Impressed by the booth’s visuals and set-up, visitors, including casual travelers, tour operators, travel writers/bloggers and university students studying tourism, sought more information about the tourist destinations in the Philippines.  To cap the Filipino fun at the fair, members of the Filipino community performed the Malong and Tinikling on the event’s final day to the thrill and excitement of the guests.

The 5th TRAVELEXPO Ankara this year had over 100 exhibitors with over 20,000 visitors. END
