The Philippine Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain resumed its conduct of Overseas Voting registration for the 2022 National Elections on 01 September 2020, after a five-month suspension due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In its effort to gradually shift back to normal consular operations, and setting in place safety precautions and protocols in its premises, the Embassy reopened overseas registration to give an opportunity for Filipinos in Bahrain to vote in the 2022 elections.

Since resuming the conduct of registration, the Embassy has so far registered a total of 261 new voters as of 30 September 2020.

Ms. Marry Glen Salmeron, an OFW in Bahrain who recently registered as an overseas voter, expressed gratitude to the Embassy for the resumption of voter registration. “I’m very happy that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, our Embassy still gives us the chance to exercise our right and duty as Filipinos to be able to choose the next leaders of our country”.

The Embassy has registered a total of 1,602 voters since commencing the current registration period in December 2019. The last day of overseas voting registration in Bahrain is on 30 September 2021.

To encourage Filipinos to register, the Embassy is utilizing its social media accounts by posting infomercials and posters to increase the awareness among Filipinos in Bahrain.
