The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (DFA-OUMWA), chartered a repatriation flight bringing home 301 distressed overseas Filipino workers from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 25 June 2021.
“In the spirit of continuing service to our kababayan, we will go the distance towards facilitating the return of these bagong bayani who have given so much to the country, and whose sacrifices animate and inspire the whole of the Philippine government,” stated Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Lou Y. Arriola.
“The President, upon hearing that there is a repatriation flight, would always ask ‘What more could we do for our OFWs?’ This small vignette is just a glimpse of the great love and care the President has for our OFWs”, shared Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Robert Borje as he reiterates President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s unfailing concern for the welfare of all overseas Filipino workers.
Qualified repatriates received financial assistance of ten thousand pesos (P10,000.00). They will also undergo quarantine provided by the Philippine government, in accordance with the health protocols set by the Department of Health (DOH) – Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) and shall be subjected to RT-PCR Testing for COVID19, before being reunited with their families.
The Philippine government continues to uphold the One-Country Team Approach (OCTA) to ensure the safety and welfare of our Kababayans.
