UP Singing Ambassadors Perform in Paris

PARIS 09 October 2018 — Paris was the last stop of the UP Singing Ambassadors (UPSA) as they performed before enthralled audiences on 20 September 2018.

In celebration of the International Day of Peace, the Philippine Embassy in Paris brought the UPSA for a concert at the American Cathedral in Paris on 20 September 2018.

UPSA performed their timeless classical, Broadway and original Pilipino music (OPM) pieces to an audience comprised of the diplomatic corps, the French community and the Filipino community in Paris.

True to form, UPSA’s powerful vocals and lovely melody enthralled the audience and pulled at their heartstrings with French popular songs such as Hymne ä l’amour and La vie en rose.

The UPSA Concert is part of the Philippine Embassy’s efforts towards cultural diplomacy projects. Ambassador Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro said in her speech that this complemented UPSA’s mission on its “Musique Sans Frontières”—themed 2018 European competition and concert tour, on which “promoting Filipino culture and talent, fostering peace and goodwill, and strengthening multi-level ties around the globe.”

The concert was part of UPSA’s last leg of their hugely successful three-month European tour in 2018, which earned for them major awards such as the Grand Prize at the First Sing! Berlin International Choir Competition held in Germany on 05-08 July 2018, Premio del Publico in the 64th Certamen Internacional de Habaneras y Polifonia held in Torrevieja, Spain on 23-27 July 2018, Grand Prize in Italy’s Second Andrea del Verrochio International Choral Competition on 05-08 August 2018, and the Grand Prize in the 66th Concorso Polifonico Internazionale “Guido d’Arezzo” on 25-27 August 2018.
