Team Philippines Wins Gold Medal in World Robot Olympiad

Copenhagen, Denmark — The Philippine Embassy in Copenhagen reported that the Philippine flag flew high in Aarhus, Denmark after two Philippine schools landed on top of the World Robot Olympiad Friendship Invitational (WROFIT) 2019 held from August 1-4, 2019.

Team Nouvus from Dr. Yanga’s College Inc., (DYCI) in Bocaue, Bulacan, composed of Doneth Dela Rama, Naiah Mendoza and Jaren Perez, won the gold medal in the Smart Cities project (Open Category – Smart Governance) with their Project ’ALAB’ or the Anti-Adversity Link for Aid and Benefits. The smart governance technology was designed to organize the provision of aid for natural and man-made calamities.

Team Nexus from Livingstone International School in Angeles, Pampanga, represented by Krischell Anne Faust, Amelia Felize Fernandez and Paolo Palanisamy, placed fourth in the Smart Cities Junior High Open Category with their Project City of Urban Discoveries and Development (C.I.U.D.A.D). Project C.I.U.D.A.D intends to provide solutions to air, water and renewable energy issues of cities.

According to the delegation head FELTA Multi-Media Inc., President and Chief Executive Officer Mylene Abiva, Team Nouvus beat 149 teams from 32 countries ranging in ages 16 to 19 years old)

This is the second invitational robotics tournament in Denmark. The first was held at Navitas, Aarhus, one of Denmark’s center for science and innovation.
