Calgary, Canada – Filipino fast-food chain  Jollibee opened its first store in Calgary, Alberta on September 19 2019.

Consul General to Calgary Zaldy Patron congratulated Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) on this milestone.

“It is with so much pride that I welcome the opening of Jollibee, a prestigious Filipino fast-food brand, here in Calgary.  This certainly brings joy to the 75,000 Filipinos in Calgary and those in nearby areas who can now enjoy the popular Jollibee foods. We hope that the many Calgarians will also love these Jollibee products,” Consul General Patron said.

Represented by Philippine Consulate General in Calgary Consul Pamela Durian-Bailon during the opening ceremony, Consul General Patron noted the increasing investments of Filipino-owned businesses in the province which make them employers or providers of jobs for the Albertans.

The Jollibee branch in Calgary is the second investment of JFC in Alberta, following the opening of its first branch in Edmonton on August 16, 2019.  The Philippine company plans to open 100 stores across Canada in five years, which will translate to more than 15,000 jobs.

Jollibee operates over four thousand stores in 20 countries in Asia, North America, and Europe. The Calgary branch, located at the Pacific Place Mall in Northeast Calgary, is the seventh Jollibee store in Canada and the 44th in North America.

During Consul General Patron’s courtesy call on Alberta Premier Jason Kenney on 9 September 2019, the Premier expressed delight when the Consul General told him that Jollibee was coming to Calgary. The Premier welcomed this latest Philippine investment in the province, which bodes well for the economic relations between the Philippines and Alberta.
