Myanmar Experiences Filipino Gastronomic Delights at ASEAN Food Festival 2019

Yangon — The Philippine Embassy in Yangon, together with the ASEAN Missions of Brunei, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam in Myanmar and ASEAN Dialogue Partners Japan, China, Republic of Korea, and India, participated in the ASEAN Food Festival 2019 organized by the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs held on August 17 to 18 2019 at the Mandalay Convention Centre.

The Philippine booth displayed and put up for sale several Filipino delicacies such as puto flan, puto cheese, yema cake, adobobiko and leche flan.

The food festival was held with the objective of developing the food-based travel sector, preserving traditional foods and raising the number of travellers during monsoon season by enabling Myanmar citizens and other guests taste a variety of food in a single location. More than 130 exhibitors participated in the event.

The event was graced by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Vice President U Henry Van Thio, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Ohn Maung and other Union Ministers, and Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung.

Also present were Ambassadors and diplomats from ASEAN missions and partner countries and officials from Myanmar Travel Association and Myanmar Restaurant Association.
