Miss U makes perfect Tourism Ambassador – Sec. Puyat

“She is our perfect Tourism Ambassador!”

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat was all praises for Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray as the latter expressed full support for the refreshed “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” branding campaign.

“We thank you for showing the Universe through your words and actions that indeed it is more fun in the Philippines! And, for that matter, we can make it more fun forever,” said Sec. Puyat in leading hundreds of employees in welcoming Ms. Gray at the DOT offices Tuesday afternoon.

Sec. Puyat confirms that Catriona will have a continuing role in the promotion of Philippines as a travel destination and that the Bicolana beauty queen has committed to find time to go around and explore the beauty of the Philippines.

Weeks prior to the Miss Universe 2018 competition, Ms. Gray took the initiative to produce a series of videos featuring various tourist destinations in the country, including Intramuros, Albay, Leyte and Cotabato.

Sec. Puyat presented Ms. Gray with a bamboo tumbler to symbolize DOT’s advocacy of sustainable tourism and a bucket list of must-see and visit places.

“Catriona’s strong support for the DOT’s efforts along the lines of environmental and socio-cultural preservation will most certainly help us promote the culture of sustainable development.”

Ms. Gray said she plans to visit all the country’s tourist destinations. She agreed to meet again with DOT officials to discuss a more defined role in the refreshed branding campaign with emphasis on sustainable tourism development.

“Promoting the Philippines is something I’ve been passionate about really because I feel if people only knew what we had to offer the level of interest would just spike and I feel we have so much potential to share to the rest of the world. I hope that in my own way of being Miss Universe 2018 I could work in promoting the Philippines not only through fashion but in every facet that I can”, said the beauty queen.
