The Philippines participates in ASEAN Family Day 2019 in New York

New York — The officers and staff of the Philippine Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and their families joined the Association of South East Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) Family Day on July 7, 2019 at the Vajiradhammadip Temple in Centereach, New York.

The ASEAN Family Day is an event celebrated to strengthen the friendship and camaraderie among the ASEAN Permanent Missions to the UN and to enhance the spirit of ASEAN community.  This year, Thailand, as Chair of the 2019 ASEAN-New York committee, hosted the event.

Each ASEAN member country showcased local cuisines and hosted a game for the participation of all the families.  The Philippine participants served beef afritada, humba, andchicken joy, and organized a triathlon relay game.

Vietnam will host next year’s event, following its assumption of the ASEAN Chairmanship.
