First PH Food Festival Held in Brussels

Ilonggo cuisine took centerstage at the inaugural Philippine Food Festival at the Pavilion de Roodebeck on 30 September 2018.

Members of both the Filipino and Belgian Communities sampled Filipino cuisine such as KBL (kadyos, baboy, at langka), chicken inasal, bopis, dinuguan, pancit molo, suman and lumpiang sariwa. Hungry diners also managed to finish off 100 liters of La Paz batchoy.

With Belgium being one of the leading beer capitals of the world, diners enjoyed ice-cold bottles of San Miguel and Red Horse beer, with the more adventurous eaters trying out balut.

A raffle draw featured prizes such as round-trip tickets to Iloilo as well as free hotel accommodations and meals at the leading restaurants in the province.

Ambassador to Belgium Eduardo José A. de Vega said that with the success of this year’s food festival, the organizers are already planning next year’s edition, which will highlight Kapampangan dishes.
