Department of Transportation conducts operational dry run of Sangley Airport

Mandauyong — After over four months of intensive 24/7 construction, Sangley Airport will finally hold its operational dry run today, 29 October 2019.

Eyed to help decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Sangley has been identified as a feasible and practical alternate gateway that can offer general aviation and turboprop cargo operations — operations that once eased from NAIA shall help capacitate the main gateway to be more responsive to commercial flight needs.

Under the firm directive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and through the relentless industry of the DOTr team led by Secretary Arthur Tugade, Sangley Airport rose from the ground so swiftly.

In just four months since the President made his surprise inspection at NAIA and ordered for the expedited utilization of Sangley, the military air base now has an improved runway, passenger terminal building, powerhouse, street lights, access road, CCTV, X-ray machines, and drainage system, among others.

Sangley Airport, as it stands now, exemplifies the invaluable impact of unity and cooperation between government agencies and with private partners.

Sangley reflects the brand of political will the Duterte administration has to deliver enhanced mobility and connectivity for the comfort of the Filipino people.
