Ortigas says it’s a blend of the exciting and the familiar

Few people would argue that leaving home is a lot easier than coming back. After months or years spent in unfamiliar places, the idea of returning to a place you thought you have outgrown seems a little somber. Others would say the opposite—that there’s comfort in the familiar and that home, essentially, is the downrush of the things you pine for after a very long absence.

Home—of its many definitions and of the many feelings associated with it, few would have the ability and the boldness to build one. So, when Ortigas & Co. decided to create living spaces on the same ground as the old Rizal Provincial Capitol in Pasig, the project naturally had to meld the desire for the familiar and the quest for something fresh.

The old seat of the Rizal local government is now called Capitol Commons, a 10-hectare property that’s buzzing with activity: from early morning joggers making their rounds, the midday lunch crowd getting their curry or ramen fix, and late-evening office workers going for the two-bottle night cap. But that is only one side of the development.

Right across the Capitol Commons’ retail centerpiece Estancia is the residential component that’s being built at this very hour. There are three towers under construction: The Imperium, The Royalton, and Maven– all of them unique, but catering to a great crowd of cosmopolitan, modern royals, and urban natives.

The Towers
The Imperium hums exclusivity. Its typical configuration is four units to a floor with cuts at a minimum of 100 square meters. The name ‘Imperium’ comes from a Latin word meaning ‘power to rule.’ Splice this fact with the architectural design and simple but elegant aesthetic, and you see a really good picture of its future residents.

The same is true for the Royalton. It was the very first tower in Capitol Commons introduced by Ortigas & Co. and its proposition was rather modest: the tower would be a permanent feast for the eyes, regardless if you are looking from a distance or within its confines. The magic again lies in the design—it’s stunning, sinuous, it is beautiful as it is purposive.

From a broad range of cuts ranging from 34 to 154 square meters, none of Royalton’s units are quite alike. Unit cuts and sizes give a whole new meaning to variety, and the use of space can be decided on and done to the detail based on the owner’s preferences. Right across Estancia, the progress of Royalton’s construction is what appears most prominent.

Those who have decided to make The Royalton their home would be the first to experience the fun and progressive energy of Capitol Commons.

Of the three towers, the launch of Maven was the one met with most enthusiasm by the happy crowd of twenty- to thirty-somethings all looking for a place that expresses who they are.

It is the haven of the creative class.

Maven is a 62-storey masterpiece packed with features and amenities that encourage a rapid flow of ideas, conversations, philosophies. Everything about this place can be Instagram-worthy, from the Craft Room, Work Room, to the Media Room. They have an uncanny semblance to that third-wave coffee shop or the busy co-working space. And that’s exactly how it is meant to be.

A Home
Is Capitol Commons a familiar home? Yes, because the comforts are there: food, clothing options, and access to a good movie house, amenities. Most of all, it is a piece of property in a place closest to the hearts of most balikbayans. Is it an exciting place to go back or settle in to? There is no question about that.

Capitol Commons is the newest addition to the Ortigas Central Business District. It is located at Meralco Ave. cor. Shaw Blvd., Pasig City.
