Pasay City—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Export Marketing Bureau (EMB), together with the Export Development Council (EDC) and Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT), awarded Philippine businesses for their outstanding export performance during the Exporters’ Night at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City on 6 December 2022.
The awardees were chosen based on their track record, recent export performance, and service delivery innovation. These exporters have maintained their competitiveness and supported Philippine export earnings amidst persistent global challenges.
The Top Exporters Award was initiated to recognize and show appreciation for the exemplary contribution of exporters in economic development, as well as to motivate the exporting community to achieve greater success.
DTI Assistant Secretary and Officer-in-Charge of the Trade Promotions Group, Mr. Glenn Peñaranda and PHILEXPORT President and CEO, Mr. Sergio R. Ortiz-Luis, Jr. conferred the awards to the 16 top-performing exporters of the country. They also recognized 28 Trade Regulatory Government Agencies (TRGAs) and six (6) EDC Committee Chairmen for their contribution and continued commitment to address exports-related initiatives.
“We take pride in the achievements of Philippine exporters, especially amidst uncertainties in the global economy. They continue to be a source of inspiration in the exporting community, including to aspiring exporters, and important drivers of the country’s economic growth. While we continue to work with the exporting community to pave the way toward exporting breakthroughs, we take a moment to recognize and celebrate the success of our top exporters and the role of our public and private sector partners in the strides we have achieved to develop and grow Philippine exports,” Trade Secretary Fred Pascual said.
In his opening remarks during the event, PHILEXPORT Chairman George T. Barcelon congratulated the winners, acknowledging their important contributions to the economy and the country.
“This is one special week of every year when we celebrate our economic heroes, our exporters, especially the micro, small and medium enterprises who continue to provide jobs and livelihood to many Filipinos,” he said. “Scarred over and over again by many forms of oppression, they have nevertheless stayed the course. And as we know, they remain in their winning battle gears of hope, resilience, world-class creativity, hard work, and optimism.”
