The DTI Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) kicked off its first Technical Regulations Enforcement, Adjudication, and Monitoring Master Sessions (TEAMS) on 3 March 2021 via online conference. The pilot session of TEAMS focused its discussion on Monitoring Compliance with Technical Regulations which was extensively discussed by the chief of the FTEB Product Standards and Monitoring Division (PSMD), Ms. Rosita Jaleco.
The personnel capacity workshop aims to provide FTEB’s Surveillance, Monitoring, Enforcement, Prosecution, and Adjudication Personnel a common understanding of the pre and post market process and to provide a better appreciation of and perspective on the safety implications of the marking and labelling requirements of products covered by mandatory standards.
“Having a unified understanding, interpretation, and application of technical regulations is very important to ascertain that our enforcers and monitors are working as one,” Undersecretary Ruth Castelo of the DTI Consumer Protection Group (CPG) underscored.
“FTEB conducted these master sessions because of one thing—we want to institutionalized our process and have a holistic approach on our procedures to serve the public better,” FTEB Director Ronnel Abrenica emphasized.
The pandemic may have forced the world to take a pause, however, the FTEB-TEAMS will continue to conduct its personnel capacity workshops every Wednesday in the virtual space. Topics varying from Technical Regulations and related Department Administrative Orders (DAOs) will be discussed every week with highly capable resource speakers.
