The Philippines joined the 2020 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo (MSRE 2020) held in Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou on 24-26 September 2020. The Philippine participation was made possible by the Philippine Tourism Office in Shanghai.
Philippine culture, tourist destinations, and products such as pearl jewelry, dried mangoes and coconut oil were showcased in the Philippine booth. The Department of Tourism’s (DOT) whale shark souvenir items promoting It’s More Fun to “Dive” in the Philippines gained the interests of buyers and guests who expressed excitement in traveling to the Philippines when travel conditions get back to normal.
The three-day annual event gathered around 900 exhibitors from 51 countries/regions, showcasing their local brands, culture and tourism, life sciences, agricultural products and marine economy. The MSRE was established in 2014 with the aim to showcase the economic development of Guangdong Province on the international platform while furthering cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative. This is the second year that MSRE has been held in Guangzhou since it moved venue in 2019 from Dongguan, Guangdong Province.
