The Hague — The Philippines, through the Department of Tourism (DOT)-Tourism Office in Frankfurt, participated in Netherland’s biggest travel fair Vakantiebeurs on 15 to 19 January 2020 in Jaarbeurs, Utrecht.
Vakantiebeurs is a major Dutch tourism and leisure fair (www.vakantiebeurs.nl) that offers vacation and adventure travel destinations to every audience and participated in by travel agencies from different countries. Tourism promotion efforts of some participating countries also featured their respective cultural groups in live dances (Indonesia, Thailand) and song numbers (Latin America group).
On its fourth year of participation, the Tourism Office in Frankfurt was joined by three local travel and tour operators: Undiscovered, PANGEA Travel, and Travel Boutique. Representatives from these agencies delivered their respective presentations on “Reizen naar de Filipijnen’’ (Travel to the Philippines) that highlighted DOT’s agenda in popular places that included Siquijor, Cebu, Palawan, Bohol, Sumilon and Manila.
The Netherlands remains the fifth largest European source market for the Philippines, with 37,047 Dutch tourist arrivals in 2018. The number of Dutch visitors to the country continued to increase rising 12.08% in 2019.
